2131
for cello solo

'2131' for cello solo was commissioned by the Mu Phi Epsilon Foundation and the Armenian Music Program at UCLA.

It was given its world premiere digitally, via YouTube, on October 18th, 2020, by cellist Jason Pegis. The piece is part of a project conceived by Mr. Pegis to commission two solo cello works: one from an Armenian composer living in Armenia (Sergey Umroyan) and another from an Armenian composer living in the diaspora (Kristapor Najarian - USA).

The title of the piece comes from a set of numbers, on which several parameters of the piece are based.
